Introduction:

"Have you ever wondered what goes on inside a detective agency? Or what it’s like to live the life of a detective? Today, we’re joined by a special guest, the director of a detective agency, who will share insights into how detective agencies work and what it’s like to be a detective.

What is the actual work of a detective agency?

So, how does a detective agency actually operate? Our guest explains that public awareness of the work done by detective agencies is quite limited. He points out that detective agencies handle various types of cases—personal (such as pre-marriage investigations), corporate, forensic, and robbery. The two main categories are personal and professional, with criminal cases being relatively rare."

Personal and professional types of cases and Extramarital cases

"Personal or household cases are common because people often avoid going to the police due to concerns about their reputation. In such situations, they turn to detective agencies. A significant portion of their work involves traps set to investigate extramarital affairs, and in many cases, the suspected person turns out to be loyal."

Discussion on corporate cases

"When it comes to corporate cases, these typically involve issues like data fraud, the leaking of company databases, or clients selling sensitive company information for personal gain. Approximately 40% of cases are corporate. For legal matters, strong evidence is essential, which is why people hire detective agencies to gather proof.

The Pune Porsche case

Reflecting on the infamous Pune Porsche case, Sir mentions that several things were tampered with, including samples, but in the end, the main culprit was caught.

Internal workings of a detective agency

"How does a detective agency work internally? Sir explains that they receive various cases daily, and the strategy is tailored to each one. When a client approaches with a case, the backend team outlines the strategy—how much time it will take, the manpower required, gadgets needed, and the overall routine. They even investigate the client to delve deeper into the case."

15:57 The Arohi Talwar case

"Discussing the 2008 Arohi Talwar case, which remains unsolved, Sir notes that some people believe the detective agency made matters worse. However, he emphasizes that in investigations, everyone has a unique point of view and different methods. In that case, the agency uncovered information that would not have come to light otherwise, and the case is still ongoing today."

19:30 Is a detective agency the same as the TV show CID? (XD)

"When asked if real-life investigations are anything like the TV show CID, Sir laughs and clarifies that investigations are done discreetly. Nothing is done in front of the suspect. Only when all the evidence is gathered does the agency confront the individual."

21:50 The hardest case in Sir's career

"Speaking about the most challenging case of his career, Sir recounts a drug-related investigation that had the entire agency on edge, where even the smallest mistake could have been disastrous. He stresses how carefully detective agencies handle every case, paying attention to the minutest details."

24:00 Confidentiality in cases

"On the subject of confidentiality, Sir reveals that before accepting a case, they always ask the client for the reason and purpose behind their request. If the request isn’t justified or ethical, the case is declined. If a client asks for another person’s private information without a valid reason, they refuse the case."

25:40 Byomkesh Bakshi or Sherlock Holmes? And their strategies

"When asked to choose between two iconic detectives, Byomkesh Bakshi and Sherlock Holmes, Sir admires both, noting that their approaches can’t really be compared. Regarding the strategies he uses in his investigations, Sir says it all depends on the nature of the case and prefers not to reveal his methods."

27:22 How did Sir become interested in detective work?

"Finally, when asked how he got into this line of work, Sir recounts a personal experience. He once had a talkative friend who suddenly became quiet and withdrawn. After some investigation, Sir discovered that she was being harassed by a relative. To protect her, they set up a hidden camera, caught the relative’s inappropriate behavior on tape, and exposed him to her family. That incident inspired Sir to enter the world of detective work."

36:10 Outro

"Sir leaves us with an important message: if something feels wrong, always confide in your family—they are the ones who will stand by you."
